Energy is about to end. Now Helen Sjöholm, 40, drags the brake – and taking a year off. – I want it quiet for a while, and poke myself in my belly button, she says.

2010 has been a hectic for Helen Sjöholm. Last spring she appeared in the concert version of “Kristina from Duvemala” at Royal Albert Hall in London. And at home followed “A Touche of Taube” at the Gothenburg Opera. Then she would have time to work on her new album “Euforia”, with Swedish interpretations of Billy Joel.

Then came an irresistible offer up – the role of the hardworking mother Karen in the literary classic “Simon and the oaks.”
– I was thrilled when I was offered the role. there was no hesitation, she says. The fact that her character was totally unmusical not deterred.
– It was nice not having to sing. I think it´s invigorating to feel that you can stand on stage without singing, she says.

An exhausting year Now, however, the CD is recorded and almost half of the performances in “Aniara” is completed. This means that Helen Sjöholm now can see the end of an exhausting year. Remaining is only one upcoming winter tour.
– 2010 has been an exceptional year with a lot of jobs. Currently I am planning a sabbatical, she says. But there is one thing that could get her to think again – a new offer to play with his friend and fellow artist Benny Andersson.
– I have heard that he was writing again, so it would not surprise me if BAO went into the studio soon. Working with them is not a job, we’re a happy family.
