++++ to My Fair Lay
World class

Helen Sjöholm is amazing as Eliza in a production of “My fair lady” that does almost everything right. A wonderful musical evening with many high points.

“My fair lady” has an great number hit songs. The brilliant Tommy Körberg stars as the language professor that makes a bet with his colleague Pickering that he can teach the hideously unarticulated flower girl Eliza to transform into a lady in six months.

How good is Helen Sjöholm?
Her intense presence made me genuinely happy when Eliza at last gets her vowels in order in “The rain in Spain”. That is how much Helen Sjöholm involves her audience. “I could have danced all night” is magical. She is not alone; Pickering, played by Michael Sergerström is utterly wonderful, very very funny. And then there is Jan Malmsjö. My god Jan Malmsjö. He has two showpieces as Elizas father, the drunken garbage man Doolittle, and he turns both of them into musical history. “With a bit of luck” is all by itself worth the price of the ticket. And that is not all, there is also Monica Nielsen, Anna-Lena Hemström and Christopher Wollter who easily performs the most beautiful song in the show “On the street where you live”. There is no end to them. Henrik Dorsin!

Even the characters hair is well worth their own show. Scenography, costumes, choreography – there is much to se and enjoy. Almost perfect. Sadly the ending is lagging, everything falls asleep.

The story of two self-centered old men that treats women as something to mold is sadly timeless. Tommy Körberg is splendid as the conceited Higgins is the chauvinist of chauvinists. Private theatre with golden lining, a very generous production.
