Far too few people die in Bollstafors. At least for a funeral home that’s meant to stay afloat. The Hellstedt sisters are trying to keep the family business alive in a dying rural community. One moment at a time.
More about the production
Sisters Helen Sjöholm and Anna Fahlstedt meet on stage for the first time in nearly 30 years, in a one-hour balancing act between joy and sorrow. Andreas T Olsson has written a specially commissioned melanchomic piece of theatre about death as a survival strategy, where hymns and songs both receive and give new life.
It never turns out the way you imagined.
So they say.
That’s not true.
Most of the time, it turns out exactly the way you imagined.
It just becomes boring in the long run.
And when it doesn’t turn out the way you imagined at all, it becomes completely impossible to accept.
Because surely there’s a reason why the things you never imagined are things you can’t imagine — under any circumstances.
Sisters Margaretha and Eva are stuck in Bollstafors. With each other. With the family business. Stuck without solid ground beneath their feet. Against all odds, they try to keep their parents’ funeral home going. But how do you survive in a place where everything suddenly exists somewhere else? Maybe even life itself.
Directed by Emma Roswall.
