Helen Sjöholm will go on tour. In October she will do concerts with a small band. This summer, she tours with Benny Andersson Band.
– It’s nice when the urge to sing comes back, says Helen Sjöholm, 42.
In December 2011 she gave birth to twins Samuel and Johanna, and has been on maternity leave since then
– It has been amazing, but now I long to make music again. It’s a relief when the urge returns.
It the autumn concerts she once again works with Martin Östergren and Jojje Wadenius.
– Yes, we return to each other on a regular basis, Helen Sjöholm says. They are both damn good musicians, in the boundless way I like. Both of them write music and I’ll sing some new stuff.
A new CD?
– No, I look back and try to find some for us new material for us, Helen Sjöholm says. I want to translate some of my old favorites. I have also glanced at “Hjälp sökes!” (Help Wanted) – there is some nice stuff.
“Hjälp sökes!” is the musical now played at the Orion Theatre, with songs by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus.
You might be singing something from the musical when you go on tour with Benny Andersson this summer?
– Yes, there might be some tunes from it. It would be great fun, Helen Sjöholm says. BAO has no new album out either, but we have an enormous amount of material together and can pick up things that we haven´t played yet. It will be great now that the singing desire comes pounding.
Next year she is starring in the musical “Livet är en schlager” (Life is a hit), from the film with screenplay by Jonas Gardell.
– I like the movie, I have met Jonas and the script I’ve read has a lot of flesh on the bones, Helen Sjöholm says. It will be a lot of newly composed music. I like my character Mona, she is unlike anything I’ve played before. Usually you always feel sorry for my characters, but this broad you don´t feel a bit sorry for.
