Over three winters, from 2021 to 2024, Helen toured with Anna Stadling on a Christmas concert tour, performing songs from their Christmas album <em data-start=\"488\" data-end=\"507\">Sn\u00f6 &amp; marschaller<\/em> (<em data-start=\"509\" data-end=\"525\">Snow &amp; Torches<\/em>). During their most recent winter tour, titled <em data-start=\"573\" data-end=\"591\">S\u00e5nger i juletid<\/em> (<em data-start=\"593\" data-end=\"624\">Songs of the Christmas Season<\/em>), they visited churches and cultural venues across the country, offering atmospheric and heartfelt performances.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"739\" data-end=\"952\"><strong>In the autumn of 2023 and spring of 2024<\/strong>, Helen appeared in the musical <em data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"822\">\u00c4nglag\u00e5rd (House of Angels)<\/em> at Oscarsteatern in Stockholm. In autumn 2024, she also appeared in Stockholm City Theatre\u2019s production of the musical <em data-start=\"942\" data-end=\"951\">Company<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"954\" data-end=\"1284\"><strong>The summer of 2025<\/strong> marked a major success when Helen, together with Tommy K\u00f6rberg, embarked on a nationwide tour of sold-out concerts. The duo\u2019s unique chemistry and audience favourites from both the musical theatre repertoire and the Swedish song tradition made the tour one of the most acclaimed concert experiences of the year.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1432\"><strong>In autumn 2025<\/strong>, Helen returned to the stage in the newly written musical <em data-start=\"1359\" data-end=\"1379\">N\u00e5n m\u00e5ste g\u00f6ra det<\/em> (<em data-start=\"1381\" data-end=\"1403\">Someone Has to Do It<\/em>) \u2013 a \u201cpocket-sized\u201d musical.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"1439\" data-end=\"1466\">More about Helen Sj\u00f6holm<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"1468\" data-end=\"1904\">Helen Sj\u00f6holm had her major breakthrough as Kristina in the musical <em data-start=\"1536\" data-end=\"1560\">Kristina from Duvem\u00e5la<\/em> in 1995. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards, including Sweden\u2019s prestigious Guldmasken theatre award on two occasions. She has also been awarded the Thalia statuette for her portrayal of Kristina, and in 2018 she received the Royal Medal <em data-start=\"1820\" data-end=\"1841\">Litteris et Artibus<\/em> for outstanding artistic achievements as a singer and actress.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1906\" data-end=\"2330\">From an early age, Helen devoted herself to choral and solo singing and studied jazz and pop vocals at Kulturama. She made her professional stage debut in the vocal and entertainment group <em data-start=\"2095\" data-end=\"2109\">Just For Fun<\/em> in the late 1980s, and her professional musical theatre debut came in 1992 at Malm\u00f6 City Theatre in the newly written <em data-start=\"2228\" data-end=\"2244\">Elvira Madigan<\/em>. The following year, she continued at the theatre with a role in the drama <em data-start=\"2320\" data-end=\"2329\">Volpone<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2332\" data-end=\"2840\"><strong>Between 1995 and 1999<\/strong>, Helen played Kristina in the original production of Bj\u00f6rn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson\u2019s <em data-start=\"2443\" data-end=\"2467\">Kristina from Duvem\u00e5la<\/em>. The premiere took place on 7 October 1995 at Malm\u00f6 Music Theatre. This leading role made her a household name throughout Sweden. The production was an overwhelming success, and the performances were praised by both audiences and critics. Helen\u2019s dramatic confrontation with God in the song <em>Du m\u00e5ste finnas (You Have to Be There)<\/em> has been particularly moving for many.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2842\" data-end=\"3125\"><strong>In 1997<\/strong>, Helen also appeared in <em data-start=\"2874\" data-end=\"2895\">Fiddler on the Roof<\/em> at Malm\u00f6 Music Theatre, portraying the daughter Hodel. In spring 2001, she played Fantine in <em data-start=\"2989\" data-end=\"3005\">Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/em> at Malm\u00f6 Music Theatre, and during the summer she once again toured with a concert version of <em data-start=\"3100\" data-end=\"3124\">Kristina from Duvem\u00e5la<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3127\" data-end=\"3415\"><strong>The year 2002<\/strong> was especially eventful. In February, the Swedish-language production of <em data-start=\"3214\" data-end=\"3221\">Chess<\/em> premiered at Cirkus in Stockholm, and once again Helen played a leading role in a musical by Bj\u00f6rn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. For her portrayal of Florence, she received the Guldmasken award.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3417\" data-end=\"3658\"><strong>In May 2002<\/strong>, Helen released her first solo album, Visor, which went platinum later that autumn. Tore Ljungberg of G\u00f6teborgs-Posten wrote enthusiastically in his review: \u201cThe voice is slightly magical, truly capturing the listener\u2019s ear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3660\" data-end=\"3843\"><strong>In autumn 2003<\/strong>, Helen made her debut as a revue performer in the <em data-start=\"3721\" data-end=\"3733\">China Revue<\/em>&nbsp;at the China Theater in Stockholm, alongside Lasse Berghagen, Magnus H\u00e4renstam, Loa Falkman, and Sissela Kyle.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3845\" data-end=\"4272\"><strong>In autumn 2004<\/strong>, Kay Pollak\u2019s movie <em data-start=\"3879\" data-end=\"3898\">S\u00e5 som i himmelen<\/em> (<em data-start=\"3900\" data-end=\"3920\">As It Is in Heaven<\/em>) premiered in Swedish cinemas. Helen portrayed Gabriella, a woman in the local church choir who is abused by her husband. She demonstrated that her star power shines just as brightly on the big screen as it does on stage. Her performance was praised by both critics and audiences, and she won Aftonbladet\u2019s audience vote for Best Supporting Actress.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4274\" data-end=\"4673\">When Benny Andersson formed his orchestra BAO in 2001, it came as no surprise that Helen appeared as a soloist in the ensemble, alongside Tommy K\u00f6rberg. With BAO, she performs, among other songs, <em>Du \u00e4r min man (You Are My Man)<\/em>, a song that can without exaggeration be described as a massive hit. It remained on the Swedish chart for an astonishing 278 weeks, a record that remains unbeaten.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4675\" data-end=\"4825\"><strong>In 2005<\/strong>, Helen played Polly Peachum at Stockholm City Theatre in Bertolt Brecht\u2019s <em data-start=\"4757\" data-end=\"4779\">The Threepenny Opera<\/em>, a production that played to sold-out houses.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4827\" data-end=\"5186\"><strong>In autumn 2008<\/strong>, Helen took on the role of Eliza Doolittle in <em data-start=\"4888\" data-end=\"4902\">My Fair Lady<\/em> at the Oscar Theater in Stockholm. For this role, she was once again awarded the Guldmasken, with the jury stating: \u201cShe sings every melody with conviction and musicality; every syllable is heard. She creates a deeply moving portrait of one of the most iconic musical roles of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5188\" data-end=\"5389\"><strong>In September 2009<\/strong>, an English concert version of <em data-start=\"5237\" data-end=\"5261\">Kristina from Duvem\u00e5la<\/em> was performed at Carnegie Hall in New York. Helen appeared as the only Swedish artist, singing the title role to great acclaim.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5391\" data-end=\"5884\"><strong>On April 14, 2010<\/strong>, she once again performed the role of Kristina in English, this time at the Royal Albert Hall in London. In 2010, Helen also appeared with Peter J\u00f6back in several concerts dedicated to musical theatre composer Stephen Sondheim, who was celebrating his 80th birthday. That same year, she appeared in the production <em data-start=\"5722\" data-end=\"5730\">Aniara<\/em>, directed by Lars Rudolfsson at Stockholm City Theatre, and in the autumn she released her second solo album, <em data-start=\"5841\" data-end=\"5883\">Euforia \u2013 Helen Sj\u00f6holm sings Billy Joel<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5886\" data-end=\"6038\"><strong>In early 2011<\/strong>, she toured with the album and continued touring throughout the summer, this time with BAO, who released the album <em data-start=\"6015\" data-end=\"6037\">O klang och jubeltid<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6040\" data-end=\"6248\"><strong>In December 2011<\/strong>, Lisa Ohlin\u2019s film <em data-start=\"6076\" data-end=\"6094\">Simon och ekarna<\/em> (<em data-start=\"6096\" data-end=\"6116\">Simon and the Oaks<\/em>), based on Marianne Fredriksson\u2019s novel, premiered. Helen portrayed Simon\u2019s mother Karin and received consistently glowing reviews.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6250\" data-end=\"6468\"><strong>In September 2013<\/strong>, Helen appeared as a guest artist in <em data-start=\"6305\" data-end=\"6345\">I Love Musicals \u2013 The Broadway Edition<\/em> for two concerts, and when the <em data-start=\"6377\" data-end=\"6394\">I Love Musicals<\/em> tour returned in 2015, she once again shared the stage with Peter J\u00f6back.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6470\" data-end=\"6652\"><strong>In autumn 2014 and spring 2015<\/strong>, Helen portrayed Mona, a mother of four, in Jonas Gardell\u2019s newly written musical <em data-start=\"6583\" data-end=\"6605\">Livet \u00e4r en schlager<\/em> (<em data-start=\"6607\" data-end=\"6627\">Life Is a Schlager<\/em>) at Cirkus in Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6654\" data-end=\"6988\"><strong>In 2016<\/strong>, BAO released the album <em data-start=\"6686\" data-end=\"6715\">Mitt hj\u00e4rta klappar f\u00f6r dig<\/em>, followed by a summer tour. That autumn, the Woody Allen musical <em data-start=\"6781\" data-end=\"6804\">Bullets Over Broadway<\/em> premiered at G\u00f6ta Lejon in Stockholm. Helen played Broadway star Helen Sinclair, and the production was described by <em data-start=\"6922\" data-end=\"6935\">Aftonbladet<\/em> as \u201ca long feast of laughter with powerful singing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6990\" data-end=\"7309\"><strong>The year 2017<\/strong> was also packed with engagements. In addition to appearing in <em data-start=\"7066\" data-end=\"7092\">I Love Musicals Allstars<\/em>, Helen gave concerts with Malena Ernman at Dalhalla, summer concerts with Tomas Andersson Wij, and appeared in the concert series <em data-start=\"7223\" data-end=\"7236\">Vinterklang<\/em> alongside, among others, Anna-Maria Hallgarn at Wasa Theatre in Finland.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7311\" data-end=\"7632\"><strong>In the summer of 2018<\/strong>, Helen once again performed at Dalhalla with Malena Ernman, this time joined by Sarah Dawn Finer and Nisse Landgren. During the winter, she toured with <em data-start=\"7485\" data-end=\"7520\">December \u2013 S\u00e5nger i vinterm\u00f6rkret<\/em> (<em data-start=\"7522\" data-end=\"7563\">December \u2013 Songs in the Winter Darkness<\/em>) together with her childhood friend and fellow artist Anna Stadling.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7634\" data-end=\"7878\"><strong>In spring 2019<\/strong>, Helen, together with Vanna Rosenberg, played the dual role of the housewife Nancy at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm in Lars Rudolfsson\u2019s newly written work <em data-start=\"7815\" data-end=\"7846\">Hugh och Nancys m\u00e5nga v\u00e4rldar (The Many Worlds of Hugh and Nancy)<\/em>, with music by Mats Gustafsson.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7880\" data-end=\"8039\"><strong>In spring 2020 and again in 2022<\/strong>, she played the leading role of Diana, the mother, in the acclaimed Broadway musical <em data-start=\"7998\" data-end=\"8014\">Next to Normal<\/em> at Uppsala City Theatre.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8041\" data-end=\"8147\">The album <em data-start=\"8051\" data-end=\"8062\">En Ny Tid<\/em> (<em data-start=\"8064\" data-end=\"8076\">A New Time<\/em>) was released in 2020 and consists entirely of newly written material.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8149\" data-end=\"8371\"><strong>In spring 2021<\/strong>, the original series <em data-start=\"8185\" data-end=\"8206\">Thunder in My Heart<\/em> premiered on Viaplay. The series consists of eight episodes, and Helen played Annika, the mother of the main character Sigrid. A second season aired in spring 2023.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8373\" data-end=\"8569\"><strong>In 2021<\/strong>, Helen Sj\u00f6holm and Anna Stadling embarked on their Christmas tour <em data-start=\"8447\" data-end=\"8465\">S\u00e5nger i juletid<\/em> (<em data-start=\"8467\" data-end=\"8498\">Songs of the Christmas Season<\/em>) for the first time, a tour that has since become an annual tradition.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8571\" data-end=\"8949\"><strong>On Christmas Day 2021<\/strong>, the movie <em data-start=\"8603\" data-end=\"8624\">Tills solen g\u00e5r upp<\/em> (<em data-start=\"8626\" data-end=\"8647\">Until the Sun Rises<\/em>) premiered, featuring Helen in one of the leading roles alongside Mikael Persbrandt, Vanna Rosenberg, and Peter Dalle. Helen and Mikael Persbrandt portrayed the married couple Peder and Lena. The movie was directed by Peter Dalle, who also wrote the screenplay, and was broadcast on SVT in spring 2023.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8951\" data-end=\"9561\"><strong>In 2022<\/strong>, Helen Sj\u00f6holm and Anna Stadling released the Christmas album <em data-start=\"9021\" data-end=\"9040\">Sn\u00f6 &amp; marschaller<\/em>. The album became a favourite among their fans, filled with atmospheric and beautiful Christmas interpretations. That same year, Helen gave several concerts, including collaborations with musician Rickard Nilsson, a partnership that continued into 2023. In May, she also appeared with Anna-Maria Hallgarn in <em data-start=\"9349\" data-end=\"9360\">V\u00e5rfanfar (Spring Fanfare)<\/em> at Wasa Theatre in Finland. Additionally, she performed a number of concerts with Martin \u00d6stergren and Jojje Wadenius and participated in a benefit concert for Ukraine organised by the Salvation Army.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"9563\" data-end=\"9880\"><strong>In 2023<\/strong>, Helen was one of the artists at t<em>he Fadime Gala<\/em> at Berns Salonger in Stockholm. On January 23, she performed at the Guldbagge Awards together with Anna Stadling and Albin Lee Meldau in a tribute to Sven-Bertil Taube. In early summer, she gave three concerts together with Jojje Wadenius and Martin \u00d6stergren.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"9882\" data-end=\"9996\"><strong>In autumn 2023 and spring 2024<\/strong>, Helen appeared in the acclaimed musical <em data-start=\"9954\" data-end=\"9965\">\u00c4nglag\u00e5rd<\/em>&nbsp;at the Oscar Theatre in Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"9998\" data-end=\"10330\"><strong>For the fourth consecutive year in 2024<\/strong>, Helen Sj\u00f6holm and Anna Stadling toured with <em data-start=\"10083\" data-end=\"10101\">S\u00e5nger i juletid<\/em>.
