Helen Sj\u00f6holm is a master of musical. Now she offers a taste of next year’s \u201dLivet \u00e4r en schlager\u201d. Popular songs meet dance band. But she shows many other emotions on the new tour.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Helen Sj\u00f6holm has given voice to some of the Swedes’ most beloved songs. She sings both \u201d Gabriella’s song\u201d and \u201dYou are my man\u201d in this show. But she has plenty of other expressions and musical interests. She goes into the Swedish ballad archive and begins that journey with \u201dV\u00e5rvindar friska\u201d. She sings from the album with Billy Joel tunes, that got Swedish lyrics by Tomas Andersson Wij.<\/p>\n

Swaying blues
\nShe chooses more rare numbers like \u201dThe Kiss\u201d by Judee Sill and \u201dVeronica\u201d which Elvis Costello wrote together with Paul McCartney. She can go from her greatest classic, \u201dYou have to be there\u201d from \u201dKristina\u201d, straight into the heavy rocking blues from Depeche Mode. One can feel a community in liking the same songs. It’s nice that she brings out a hidden diamond  like \u201dFanfar\u201d by Staffan Hellstrand.<\/p>\n

Room for humor
\nOne can also find community in laughing at the same things. Helen Sj\u00f6holm is good at being funny on stage, and could use humor even more. Here she offers a comical encore in a folk song, and some good stories. Her musical self-portrait also contains Tracy Chapman and Joni Mitchell, and there’s \u201dBoth sides now\u201d as well as \u201dBig yellow taxi\u201d. A very skilled band and playful arrangements. Jojje Wadenius and Martin \u00d6stergren respectively present instrumental pieces they wrote. Beautiful.<\/p>\n

But it’s The Voice that sets the senses in motion.<\/p>\n
