She is ranked as one of the country\u2019s best singers and has been praised for roles in \u201cAs it is in Heaven\u201d and \u201cKristina fr\u00e5n Duvem\u00e5la\u201d.<\/strong>
\n Helen Sj\u00f6holm is returning to \u00c5ngermanland to sing again with former inseparable colleague Peter J\u00f6back.<\/strong>
\n – It feels good to come home to Norrland, says Helen Sj\u00f6holm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hardly anyone can claim that the fine singing Sundsvall native Helen Sj\u00f6holm is a stranger to the people of \u00c5ngermanland. As recently as this summer she performed an appreciated concert at the Skule festival, and two years ago she received Nicke Sj\u00f6din\u2019s scholarship at Hullsta farm in Sollefte\u00e5. That she experienced many childhood summers with her grandmother in N\u00e4s\u00e5ker, and have relatives still in Sollefte\u00e5, is also widely known.<\/p>\n

The trips to Sollefte\u00e5 and N\u00e4s\u00e5ker have however become fewer over the years.
\n– I\u2019m often in Sundsvall, since I grew up there. Last time I was in Sollefte\u00e5 was when I received Nicke Sj\u00f6din\u2019s scholarship. And I haven\u2019t been to N\u00e4s\u00e5ker in many years, says Helen Sj\u00f6holm.<\/p>\n

Although the \u00c5dal visits have become less, the musical star occasionally thinks back to her childhood in N\u00e4s\u00e5ker.
\n– Now that I\u2019m older and have children of my own I would like to go up there and show N\u00e4s\u00e5ker to the kids. I still have a great love for the district.<\/p>\n

When Allehanda reaches Sj\u00f6holm by phone she has just been to rehearsals for \u201cI love musicals\u201d, the show that this evening has its tour premiere in Fj\u00e4llr\u00e4ven Center in \u00d6rnsk\u00f6ldsvik.
\n– I feel good about the premiere. It\u2019s been long since I got to work with Peter, not least it\u2019s a long time since \u201cKristina fr\u00e5n Duvem\u00e5la\u201d, so this show with Peter feels like a privilege and a luxury job.<\/p>\n

Undeniably water has flowed under the bridge since Sj\u00f6holm rose to prominence in the mid -90s, when she pinched the role of Kristina in \u201cKristina fr\u00e5n Duvem\u00e5la\u201d in front of a 1000 other singers. Since then she has been featured in the hit musical \u201cChess\u201d, become part of Benny Andersson Band and played a key role in Kay Pollak’s blockbuster movie \u201cAs it is in Heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n

The recent rumors that there will be a sequel to \u201cAs it is in heaven\u201d, she knows nothing about.
\n– Honestly I know nothing about that and I have not been contacted about any sequel. I know however that there has been talk of a sequel before.<\/p>\n

Helen Sj\u00f6holm\u2019s focus is instead on \u201cI love musicals\u201d, her own upcoming tour and the future show \u201cLivet \u00e4r en schlager\u201d, which will premiere in the autumn 2014. In the play Sj\u00f6holm portraits the pop song crazy Mona, Peter J\u00f6back plays transsexual Candy Darling, Jonas Gardell directs and Fredrik Kempe has written several new songs.<\/p>\n

Sj\u00f6holm travels today, Friday, to \u00d6rnsk\u00f6ldsvik with excitement and confidence.
\n– Since this show has been done before I step into a well-oiled machine, a machine that has developed over the years. The finest with \u201cI love musicals\u201d is that you notice that it\u2019s made with love to the songs.<\/p>\n

The thing is that Sj\u00f6holm is only at the \u201cI love musicals\u201d concerts in \u00d6rnsk\u00f6ldsvik and Lule\u00e5, since she\u2019s going on her own tour.
\n– That it became the north of Sweden, and \u00c5ngermanland in particular, feels especially exciting given my connections to the area.<\/p>\n

43-year-old Sj\u00f6holm says that tonight\u2019s audience can expect many varied arrangements, but perhaps above all a grand and fun concert night.
\n– I\u2019m in four, five songs. Among other things I do \u201cYou have to be there\u201d from \u201cKristina fr\u00e5n Duvem\u00e5la.\u201d It\u2019s difficult to avoid the song, but I have no problem with it. I carry Kristina with me constantly and it just feels great to be associated with her \u200b\u200band the musical.<\/p>\n
