Directed by Lars Rudolfsson the show premiered on october 7th 1995 at Malm\u00f6 Musikteater.<\/p>\n<p>Karl-Oskar, Kristinas husband, was played by <a title=\"Anders Ekborg\" href=\"http:\/\/andersekborg.nu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anders Ekborg<\/a> and Robert, the brother of Karl-Oskar, was played by <a title=\"Peter J\u00f6back\" href=\"http:\/\/www.peterjoback.com\/index_english.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Peter J\u00f6back.<\/a> Ulrika was played by \u00c5sa Bergh and Fina-Kajsa by Marianne M\u00f6rck. The whole ensemble was praised for their interpretations. Helens dramatic reconciliation with God in \u201cDu m\u00e5ste finnas\u201d touched the audiences in both Sweden and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>The production with its beautiful and melancholic music ran for 671 performances in Malm\u00f6, Gothenburg and Stockholm and was seen by 1 000 917 people.<\/p>\n<h4>Reviews<\/h4>\n<p>\u201cKristina fr\u00e5n Duvem\u00e5la\u201d is a grand production and a breakthrough for Helen Sj\u00f6holm, playing the captivatingly singing Kristina\u201d the critic at Aftonbladet wrote, the review continued \u201cBenny Andersson and Bj\u00f6rn Ulveaus reveals new aspects of their talent both musically but also with their lyrics. Who would have thought them to be reconciling with God? The faith in God is dealt with in the magnificent ballad \u201cDu m\u00e5ste finnas\u201d. Helen sings desperately of faith against all odds. Kristina is far way from home, dealing with the death of her child, miscarriage, illness and isolation. Can se dare to put her faith in God, one last time?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carl-Gunnar \u00c5hl\u00e9n wrote in SvD \u201cHelen Sj\u00f6holm takes on the title role with a clear and yet sensitive soprano\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DN praised; \u201cHelen gives a portrait that must be among the most extensive in swedish musical theatre, allowing her whole being to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Photo &amp; \u00a9 Martin Skoog\" src=\"https:\/\/helensjoholm.nu\/_eng\/wp-content\/gallery\/biografi\/Kristina-390.jpg\" alt=\"Kristina. Photo &amp; \u00a9 Martin Skoog\" width=\"390\" height=\"257\"><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo &amp; \u00a9 Martin Skoog<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Expressen concluded that Kristina was \u201ca veritable dynamo, explosive as an american steam locomotive and a flaming queen of the prairie\u201d Accordion to Sydsvenskan Helen was \u201ca fantastic Kristina\u201d and Danska Berlingske Tidene called the production a success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA delightful voice and a dramatic edge, every time she sings a vocally beautiful experience occur.\u201d Tony Kaplan wrote in Arbetet. Olle Berggren was equally exited \u201cHer voice is as crystal clear as the brook back home in Duvem\u00e5la\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Magnus Haglund, reviewing the production in GP, found the singing overall impressive and Helen, playing Kristina, to be the star of the production. \u201cShe makes the tunes flourish, flowing into the musical sphere and she sings with intensity without appearing strained at all. Magnus continues; The grand moment is the reconciliation with God at the end of the second act in Du m\u00e5ste finnas, here the powers are set loose, the anxiety and the enchantment, the doubt and desire.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the autumn of 1996<\/strong> the soloists travelled to Minnesota, USA, to give a concert version of the musical. They also did a tour in eight swedish cities in the summer of 2001. The tour started in V\u00e4xj\u00f6 on june 6th. These concerts were sold out to the last seat.<\/p>\n<p>The CD that was released in october 1996 was awarded a Grammis and the songs <em>Du m\u00e5ste finnas<\/em>, <em>Hemma<\/em>, <em>Vildgr\u00e4s<\/em> och <em>Pr\u00e4riens Drottning<\/em> was released as singles. In his review Tore Ljungberg wrote \u201cHelen Sj\u00f6holm is a great talent and a find as Kristina. She has a great voice and a vast range, she is very believable in her interpretation. Her rendition of Du m\u00e5ste finnas, when Kristina at the end of the second act doubts the existence of God is a masterpiece, truly chilling. Min Astrakan is another gem.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Two documentaries was made for TV, one about the trip to Minnesota in 1996 and <em>L\u00e5ngt bort och l\u00e4ngesen<\/em> in 1997, a documentary about the rehearsals and work to put the production together.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On september 23 and 24 in 2009<\/strong> a concert version of <em>Kristina fr\u00e5n Duvem\u00e5la<\/em> was preformed at Carnegie Hall, New York. The lyrics had been translated into english and the production was now called <em>Kristina<\/em>. Helen, once again, played Kristina. She was the only Swedish singer to take part. The part of Karl-Oskar was played by Russell Watson and Kevin Odekirk portrayed Robert and Louise Pitre played Ulrika.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHelen &#8211; you are world class &#8211; The New York audience gave a standing ovation\u201d Jens Peterson wrote in Aftonbladet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On april 14, 2010<\/strong>, another performance of <em>Kristina<\/em>, with the same cast, was given at Royal Albert Hall in London.
