It’s extra of everything when Jonas Gardell takes his blockbuster Livet är en schlager to Cirkus. Helen Sjöholm and Peter Jöback in the main roles (…)

The movie, directed by Susanne Bier in 2000, became a success, but now Jonas Gardell asks us forget it. He has rewritten the story of the pop crazy Mona (Helen Sjöholm) who submits a song for the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest which is actually written by cerebral palsy guy David (Jonas Helgesson) whom she is a personal assistant for (…)

Helen Sjöholm is outstanding in her demanding role where she is on stage virtually the whole time. She not only has to nail the high tunes, but also act in long spoken sections. Livet är en schlager is also a josh with celebrity obsession. Therefore the experience becomes a little strange when the celebrities who are joked about on stage – are sitting in the salon, especially invited.
